I LEFT NO TAX New Hampshire for Maine, Here’s Why.
New Hampshire, with its renowned tax-free status, is often touted as a dream state for many. However, my personal journey led me to a different conclusion. Despite the financial benefits, I made the decision to leave the Granite State and move to Maine.
1. Rural Lifestyle.
Maine's more rural lifestyle aligns perfectly with my desire for tranquility and a slower pace of life. The state's stunning natural beauty, from its rugged coastline to its serene lakes and forests, offers endless opportunities for outdoor recreation and relaxation.
2. Lower Property Costs.
While Maine's property taxes may be higher, the overall cost of living, including housing, can be more affordable compared to other states. Additionally, Maine offers a variety of housing options, from cozy cottages to spacious family homes, catering to different budgets and preferences.
3. Nostalgia and Quality of Life.
Having spent many summers in Maine, I developed a deep connection to the state. The stunning coastal scenery, charming small towns, and friendly locals made it an easy choice.
A New Beginning in Maine
While leaving New Hampshire was a tough decision, I've found that Maine offers a superior quality of life that outweighs the potential tax savings. The slower pace, beautiful natural scenery, and strong sense of community have made my move to Maine one of the best decisions of my life.
